Docs - Builder earning

How builders earn

Set your own premium on top of the LLM cost. Keep 100% up to $99 per month. Above that, the platform takes 9% - only on the overage.

1. You only earn on agents you publish

Private agents don't earn - they're just for you, and you pay the same LLM cost + 9% as any other user. Builder earnings start the moment you flip an agent to Unlisted or Public and set a premium above 0%.

2. Set your premium

Each agent has a markup slider on its Visibility & sharing page, from 0% to 500% on top of the LLM cost. At 50% markup, a 10c LLM call charges the runner 10c LLM + 0.9c platform fee + 5c builder premium = 15.9c total.

You set the premium per agent. Different agents can carry different markups. Change it any time - the new rate applies to subsequent runs.

3. The $99 monthly threshold

You keep 100% of your premium revenue up to $99 per calendar month - that's per builder, not per agent. Five agents each earning $30/month gives you $150 in premium, not five fresh $99 thresholds.

Above $99, the platform takes 9% - and only on the amount above $99. The first $99 every month is always yours.

4. Why marginal, not cliff

An alternative design (we rejected it) would tax the full month's premium once you cross $99. That would mean the first dollar over $99 costs you $9 - a punishing anti-incentive right at the line.

We use a tax-bracket model instead: 9% applies only to the part of your monthly premium above $99. Earning more is always net-positive.

$1,000$99$901$81.09$918.91

Numbers are summed across every agent you publish, in the current calendar month, UTC.

6. Monthly reset

The $99 counter resets at UTC start-of-month. Think of it like monthly income on Substack or the App Store - whatever you didn't use this month doesn't carry over, but whatever you earned doesn't follow you into next month either.

7. No subscription required

You don't need to subscribe to anything to publish, charge a premium, or earn. Builder Wukong (a paid feature subscription that ships with WukongPod) unlocks training tools - it does not gate your ability to make money.

8. Where to see it

Your monthly earnings show up on /billingin the Builder earnings card (visible once you've earned anything). The markup slider for each agent lives on that agent's Visibility & sharing page.
